Up until a few weeks ago, fireworks were illegal in Rhode Island. BUT, every year that we’ve lived here, most of the neighborhood treks down the road to the beach to watch local pyromaniacs do their thing. Most fireworks are still illegal, but at least we can buy sparklers, smoke bombs, and poppers now!

This is the first year we all went – the kids are old enough not to be too scared. Or so we thought. Even with the ear protectors Ryan was wearing, as soon as the first one went off, he started asking to go home. Apparently, he doesn’t like the noise. We did manage to stay through most of it though. Ryan with his “muffs” and Mom covering Megan’s ears. (In fact, Megan fell asleep! Strange girl!)
